What you should know about Eric:
How Eric started fishing
My Father took me fishing as a child and I have fished ever since. First started tournament fishing when I got out of the Army at Fort Polk in 1992. Started fishing in a 16ft Raycraft with a 115hp Evinrude and was hooked! Started fishing numerous tournaments on Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn and Lake Fork.
Aspirations or goals with fishing
Have fun and Compete!
Favorite way to fish
Flipping and pitching, because i like to get up close and it requires stealth and accuracy.
Most exciting fishing experience
My most exiting experience would have to be when I caught my first Bass that was 10 pounds.
But the bad part is, i caught it the weekend before Sealy's Big Bass Splash!
How Eric preps for a tournament
I prep by going over and function checking every thing on my boat and trailer. I then check rods, reels and line and ensure my tackle is organized.
Three favorite search baits
Crankbait, carolina rig and the spook
Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
My first 1st place finish in a ABA tournament on Sam Rayburn and i was pitching flooded trees with a jig
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
The most challenging would be adjusting to ever-changing conditions
When tournaments don't go my way
Analize what i did right and wrong, make notes and still talk a little trash to my competition!
And remember, no matter how skilled you think you are, bass fishing will humble you!
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
Be courteous.
Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport
So many techniques....... I would say master the jig, crankbaits and topwaters, that way you can cover all depths that the fish may be in
