What Chris does for a living:
I am a Air Force Veteran of over 22 years and currently work as a civil service employee for the Department of the Air Force.
What you should know about Chris:
I'm just a Cetral Texas country kid that has spent the last 20+ years traveling around the world doing the AF thing. Glad to be back in Texas to finish it all off.
How Chris started fishing
My love for fishing started when i was probably 5-6. My Grandaddy gave me a cane pole, jar of worms and a 5 gallon bucket. He sent me to the tank in his pasture and told me to put as many perch in my bucket as I could carry. I've been addicted ever since.
Aspirations or goals with fishing
I have always dreamed of fishing the Bassmaster Elite Series (just like i dreamed of being an MLB pitcher) so i know the probability of that. In the end fishing is my happy place, so any opportunity to fish a tournament or just go out for the day with my family and wet a line makes my day.
Favorite way to fish
I love fishing a jig and Texas rigged plastics.
Most exciting fishing experience
My most exciting fishing experience was juming into the mud and helping my 9 year old (at the time) son land his first monster bass in a tank up in Kansas. Watching his excitement while bringing in that 6 1/2 lb 22 in bass was awesome.
How Chris preps for a tournament
I enjoy studying lake maps and social media posts.
Three favorite search baits
1. Texas rigged worm/lizard/creature bait.
2. Jig
3. Chatter bait
Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
My best tournament day was a team tournament on Lake Bridgeport. Me and Brad Chartier weighed in 23 lb 4 oz with my Personal Best 10 lb 7 oz kicker.
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
Adapting to changing weather conditions.
When tournaments don't go my way
Who cares. As long as I'm casting I'm happy.
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
If you don't love and I mean LOVE fishing even when you catch nothing, stick with family outings.
Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport
To me fishing techniques are like batting stances. No matter how much you try to emulate the pros, you have to figure out what works best for you. You are going to have the best success when you are comfortable. BE PATIENT>
