What you should know about Larry:

Competed in Bass tournaments since 1985

How Larry started fishing

In Colorado with my 15 ft tri hull boat with a 50 hour Evenrude

Aspirations or goals with fishing

My goal was to fish the Bass Masters, but money for entry fees and travel became to much.  I moved to Truman lake in 1997.

Favorite way to fish

My true favorite, is a top water bait.  I love the action, plus it catches some nice bass.  Jigs and worms are my second choice.  I like square bill crankbaits in summer.

Most exciting fishing experience

My 1st Angler of the Year title in 2011, then again in 2012,  fishing ABA.  Went to Lake Murray in 2011 and had Big Bass for $3000.00 came in 49th.

I won Division 49 Championship in 2015 plus Angler of the Year.  I have 4 Angler of the Year titles.

How Larry preps for a tournament

I use top water, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits.  Once I catch a keeper I look for similar spots.

Three favorite search baits

Buzzbaits, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

2015 Championship, I caught 26 lbs of bass in the 2 days.  Cloudy, rainy both days and the Bass were eating top water like it was bass candy.  I used the same bait, all day,  both days.  It was a very exciting tournament.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Finding the bass, and finding enough weight to win.  Sometimes it's easy and there are times, they seem impossible.

When tournaments don't go my way

When it gets tough, I just keep pushing myself, and try not to be negative.  I've seen bad days turn into winners, in just a few minutes.  Over the years, I've had my share of Zeroes.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Join a club.  Get into tounaments as a non boater and learn.  Sometimes you can draw an incredible boater and learn a ton in 1 day.  Watch fishing shows, and read magazines, and the internet.  Time on the water.

Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

Try to get good at one lure.  Understand what it does.  Find the right rod for each lure.  There will be lots of days, that seem like nothing work's.  Stay tough, and learn.  Good luck.
