What you should know about David:

I have fished tournaments at all levels, BASS Opens and Invitationals, FLW Tour, Costa Series, BFL, BASS Weekend Series.  Have won 5 BFL's, 1 BASS Weekend Series, and numerous local tournaments.Biggest win was in 1989 when I won a Golden Blend Tournament on Lake Eufaula.

How David started fishing

I have fished all my life beginning with my Dad every weekend.  Began tournament fishing in 1982 after I tore my ACL and could not compete in racketball or basketball any longer.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

To enjoy myself and qualify for year end championships at each level I fish.

Favorite way to fish

Spinnerbaits because I have won more tournaments on that lure than any other and it is a fun way to fish.

Most exciting fishing experience

Winning the Golden Blend in 1989 on Lake Eufaula and then qualifying for the Golden Blend Championship in 1990 on Lake Chickamauga where I finished in the money.

How David preps for a tournament

I practice hard and prepare my equipment to the best of my ability.

Three favorite search baits

Spinnerbait, swim jig, Carolina Rig.

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

Winning the Golden Blend on Lake Eufaula in 1989.  A two day tournament and I caught all of my fish on spinnerbaits.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Just finding fish.  Catching them is impossible if you can't find them.

When tournaments don't go my way

Be glad that God gives me the opportunity to fish and go on to the next one.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

You have to face the fact that things won't always go your way and most people have hot streaks and cold streaks.  Don't quit when you hit a cold streak.

Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

Probably the easiest way to catch and find fish is to fish a spinnerbait shallow and cover a lot of water.
