What you should know about Gregg:

How Gregg started fishing

I began fishing as a youngster. My Dad would take my brother and I to a local forest preserve where he would find a nice tree to sit under and read a book while my brother and I would fish. It would always be a competition between the two of us to see who could catch the most and the largest fish. From there we would find local ponds to fish until one day I decided to take the next step and fish tournaments. To this day my brother and I still fish local ponds but my passion is tournament fishing.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

I would like to move up a class in the next couple years as I gain more experience and maybe one day be able to make a name for myself on the national level.

Favorite way to fish

I love fishing worms or creature baits. I enjoy this technique because it requires patience and determination to fool a fish into biting your offering.

Most exciting fishing experience

My most exciting fishing experience was when I was practicing on the Mississippi River for the state tournament and I landed a monster Walley on a senko.

How Gregg preps for a tournament

I like to search the Internet for past tournament results, local condition updates, and reading lake maps.

Three favorite search baits

Senko, crawfish and crankbait.

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

I finished first place by staying with my game plan and not doing what everyone else doing.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Trying to figure out new waters.

When tournaments don't go my way

I use them to learn for the future. I'll take notes on conditions, water temps, baits used and try to see what might work next time.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Practice, practice, practice. The more time you spend on the water the better you will become.
