Be consistent. Put five in the live well during tournaments. Find new spots, and experiment on fun days.

Caught a 5.5 and a 3.5 pounder in five minutes.

 Practice a few days before, if possible. Keep an eye on the sky.

Lucked up and won my first tournament a few years back. Tried something new, and the conditions were perfect.


Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Getting up at 3AM.


When tournaments don't go my way

Get over it, quickly.


Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Keep it simple. Keep your line wet. Lots of tournaments are won with one presentation.
