What you should know about Donald:

I am a very respectful person and give all the encouragement to everyone to enjoy the outdoors and learn about nature and all it has to offer.

How Donald started fishing

I started my fishing on the Mississippi River in Iowa where I was born and raised.Iearned a lot over the years about catching fish especially largemouth, and smallmouth bass.I relocated to Ohio in August of 2000.I fished local bass tournaments and in 2015 I joined the Ohio Bass Nation.I competed and finished 15th for the year.I also got into the Toyota Bonus Bucks program.I was invited to go fish Toledo Bend Reservoir in many,la.I finished 29th out of 240 anglers.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

To better myself and learn all that I can and to be good enough to get on with the Elites.

Favorite way to fish

I really love finesse fishing and topwater fishing to see the reaction bites.Seeing a bass react to a topwater bait is so exciting

Most exciting fishing experience

My most exciting fishing experience was on Lake Erie.I fished a tournament there and caught 42 bass in 8  hours.

How Donald preps for a tournament

I go through my entire boat.motor.and all of my equipment to make sure that it is ready to go.Then I go pre fishing to find the fish and then mark those spots on my garmin.

Three favorite search baits

Crankbait,Jerkbait,and Topwater

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

My best tournament finish was 15th out of 125 anglers. It was in May and I started using a topwater bait.I caught my first fish 15 minutes into fishing and it was 4.5 lbs. After the water warmed up I switched to using a creature bait Texas rigged on a 4/0 gamagatsu EWG hook.I caught 5 fish that weighed 16 lbs.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Changes in weather and fishing pressure.

When tournaments don't go my way

I always give it 100%.I do the best that I can to be the best I can.I am very competitive but also show good  sportsmanship to those that win.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Start young and learn as much as you can through the years
