What you should know about Samuel:
How Samuel started fishing
I grew up on Bayou Desiard in Monroe, Louisiana. I fished almost every day when I wasn't in school. I met a pivotal person in my life when I was a kid and he taught me everything I know about bass fishing. He was the person that helped to foster that fishing passion.
Aspirations or goals with fishing
I look forward to one day competing in the Ray Scott championship.
Favorite way to fish
All shallow water fishing
Most exciting fishing experience
When my son, who also competes in tournaments, caught his first bass.
How Samuel preps for a tournament
Three favorite search baits
Crank bait
Chatter bait
Weightless fluke
Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
4th Place. I fished top water
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
The mental aspect.is always the hardest. Trying to keep your head in the game when it's raining, cold, extremely hot, or the fish are just not biting is always the hardest. You just have to keep telling yourself to stay in it and never give up.
When tournaments don't go my way
I just analyze what went wrong and try to learn from my mistakes.
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
Never give up. I've played all different sports throughout my life and fishing is probably the hardest as far as the mental game is concerned. It can be very difficult to stay positive when your not catching them or the weather is brutal but you can't give into any of that. You just have to keep moving forward.
