Only three anglers brought back five-fish limits on day one and only Tom brought a limit on day two. With A limit on both days Tom took the victory with a two-day total of 20.92 pounds. |

Bateman wins on the Potomac Tom Bateman of LaPlata, Maryland wins the May 7, 2017 Maryland AFT D11 tournament held on the Potomac River running out of Small Wood State Park near Marbury, MD. Tom weighed in a five fish limit weighing 13.75 pounds to take the win. |
Hall Wins on The Potomac River Hart Hall of Alexandria, VA. wins the April 23rd Maryland AFT D11 tournament on the Potomac River. Hart brought a five fish limit to the scale that weighed 18.23 pounds. |
Randall Takes Win on Potomac Scott Randall of King George, VA takes first place in the AFT D11 tournament held on the Potomac River on April 15th. Scott brought a five fish limit weighing in at 21.06 pounds. "I fished a community hole using a Bill Hamilton Custom swim jig on a Denali Kovert rod. I had to fish slow letting the jig get down in the grass the rod gave me the right amount of backbone to get the fish out of grass," stated Randall. |
Gloden Takes Win on Potomac Charles Gloden of Laplata, Maryland takes first place for the AFT D11 event held on April 1st on the Potomac River. |
Thompson Wins on Potomac Tom Thompson of Falls Church, Virginia takes the win on the AFT D11 Potomac River event that was held on September 17th. Tom topped the competition with a five fish limit weighing in at 14.60 pounds. "We fished two general areas on the day. One near the launch and the other a few miles away. Fished seemed to be active early even with the high water. First two in box came on frog. Third on senko. fourth and fifth on pop r. Oddly enough fishing got worse as the tide got lower, for us at least. Did not make a cull all day," stated Thompson. |
Bateman Wins Divisional Championship Tom Bateman of Laplata, Maryland wins the D11 two day Divisional Championship on the Potomac River held on August 20th and 21st. Tom out fished the rest of the field with a two-day total of ten fish that weighed 27.12 pounds. “I targeted bass in shallow water feeding on crayfish most my fish came in a strong incoming current if the water wasn't moving I didn't catch anything. Most of my fish came on senkos and poppers I had about 7 bites each day but they were good ones I didn’t catch my 5th fish on Sunday until 2:50. I’d like to thank Fred’s sports ardent outdoors and Bill Hamilton custom baits," stated Bateman. |
Clark Takes Win on Potomac Patrick Clark of Spotsylvania, Virginia topped the field with a five fish limit that weighed in at 14.82 pounds for the AFT D11 July 31st event. High heat and humidity as well as locally heavy rains leading up to the event made for a tough bite. Pat only managed five bites the whole day with his kicker of 5.51 pounds. Denali’s Lithium Series rods strength and sensitivity helped Pat pull his fish from the grass mats on the main river. |
Roselle Takes Win on Potomac Mike Roselle of LaPlata, Maryland takes the Ram AFT D11 win on the Potomac River on July 10th with a five fish limit weighing in at 15.02 pounds. He also took Big Bass with a 3.73 kicker. "I fished main river grass beds protected from the wind with two different colors of the BHF custom lures swim jigs. Also caught a fish late on a spro frog in matted grass that helped cull up. The lower end of the tide seem to produce the better quality bites. The new st criox avid x series rods was a big key to catching the fish because they are sensitive enough where you can feel if there is any grass on the bait fowling it up." Roselle said. |
