Rusty White Jr Takes the Area Championship win on Pickwick The Alabama North and Mississippi division of the Bass Pro Shops Open Series came together for their two-day championship on Lake Pickwick in Florence, AL. 47 boaters and 41 Co-Anglers hit the water to try and seal their way into the 2021 Ray Scott Championship. |
Damien Willis Takes the win on Weiss ATHENS, Ala. – The 2020 Bass Pro Shops North Alabama Open Series had its 3rd stop of the season on Weiss Lake at Little River Marina with 67 boaters and 51 co-anglers. Finishing in 1st place with 5 fish weighing 15.60 lbs. was Damien Willis winning $5,000. He started out fishing upriver using a frog, then moved to the ledges, and finished up fishing wood and shallow docks with a jig with an x-cite raptor in green pumpkin. |
Henshaw Takes the win on Neely Henry The 2020 Bass Pro Shops North Alabama Open Series had its 2nd stop of the season on Neely Henry. Launching from Coosa Landing 82 boaters and 63 co-anglers went out chasing little green fish. Thomas Henshaw claimed 1st place for the boaters with 5 fish weighing 15.30 lbs. For his efforts, Thomas took home $5,200. Thomas also landed the biggest fish for the boaters with a 4.87-lb beauty, earning him an additional $770. He caught his fish flipping wood with a creature bait and a craw. |
Two Events May 2nd & 3rd on Neely Henry April 27, 2020, Athens, AL. The second event of the season for the Bass Pro Shops Open Series North Alabama Open Series will be held on Neely Henry on May 5th out of Coosa Landing in Gadsden, AL. Kent Keys of Anniston, AL, is currently leading in the division after his 19.60 pounds win on Guntersville Lake in February. Kent pocketed $5,000 for first place and another wad of cash for big bass. Paul Tidwell of Horton, AL, has high hopes for the Neely Henry tournament. “We are all ready to get back out there and compete”, said Tidwell. “Neely Henry is a really fun lake to fish and last year it took 20 pounds to win. I’m expecting weights to be even better this year. The fish have had a lot less pressure than normal, so I’m expecting everyone to catch fish”, concluded Tidwell. The Bass Pro Shops Open Series is a Pro-Am format, and the Bass Pro Shops Triton Team Tour is a Team format. Anglers can sign up for one of both events. Kent Keys Takes Home $5,000 on Lake Guntersville ATHENS, Ala. – The 2020 Bass Pro Shops North Alabama Open Series Tournament kicked off on Guntersville Lake at Goose Pond Landing with 64 boaters and 59 co-anglers. Finishing in 1st place Boater with 5 fish weighing 19.60 lbs. was Kent Keys winning $5,000. Kent also landed the biggest bass for the boaters with a 6.70-lb toad, earning himself an extra $620. He caught his fish using 6”and 7” swimbaits on creek ledges and bends, and deep grass lines. |

2021 Ray Scott Championship Lake Chickamauga Dayton, TN ATHENS, Ala. – January 06, 2020 -- American Bass Anglers announced today that the 2021 Ray Scott Championship, will be hosted by Dayton, TN. The event will take place April 11-18 at Dayton Boat Dock on Lake Chickamauga in Dayton, TN. Two hundred boaters and co-anglers from the Bass Pro Shops Open Series 2020 season will be invited to compete for over $300,000.00 in cash and prizes which include $115,000 for first place boater and $65,000 for first place co-angler. Lake Chickamauga is a reservoir along the Tennessee River completed in 1940 and has a shoreline of 810 miles stretching from Watts Bar Dam to Chickamauga Dam making the lake 58.9 miles long. The Championship will launch from the Dayton Boat Dock at Dayton TN, near the midsection of the lake. Lake Chickamauga is known for big bass stringers and the month of April should produce an exceptional fishery for all the anglers....... |

Pryor Takes the win in Area 1 Championship on Guntersville Terry Pryor of Cullman, Al won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Area 1 Championship tournament, held September 9th-10th on Lake Guntersville. Running out of Goose Pond in Scottsboro, AL Terry caught a two day total of ten bass for a total weight of 35.83-lbs. For his win, Pryor took home a check for $3700. |
Robinson wins $5000 at Lake Guntersville ATHENS, Ala. – Tracy Robinson, of Gadsden, AL, won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series North Alabama tournament, held on May 4th on Lake Guntersville. Running out of Goosepond Bait and Tackle. Robinson won with just over a 2-pound lead. Robinson caught five bass weighing 27.20-pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Robinson took home a check for $5000. |
Morrison wins $5000 at Neely Henry with a broken motor! ATHENS, Ala. – Toby Morrison of Lyerly, GA won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Alabama North tournament, held April 13th on Neely Henry. Running out of Coosa Landing in Gadsden, AL Morrison caught five bass weighing 20.13-pounds. Morrison also caught a beautiful 6.52-pound bass that took Big Bass for the boaters. For the Boater Division victory, Morrison took home a check for $5000 as well as a check for $630 for his big bass. |
North Alabama Open Series Heads to Neely Henry ATHENS, Ala. – The North Alabama Division of the 2019 Bass Pro Shops Team Tour operated by American Bass Anglers will hold its second event of the season on April 12, 2019 on Neely Henry Lake in Gadsden, AL. The competitors will launch at Coosa Landing located at 200 Lake St, Gadsden, AL 35903. Registration begins at 4 p.m. local time at the stage trailer at Coosa Landing, with the tournament briefing to begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening. |
Beutjer Cashes in with Contingency This past weekend the Alabama North Division of the Bass Pro Shops Open Series held its first event of the season launching from Goose Pond. The water level was high and most of the lake and main river channels were stained with a good current. Will Beutjer of Athens, AL made the drive to compete for his share of the over $16,000 in prize money awarded at the tournament. Will had a great day on the water landing a 5-fish limit that locked in the scales at 23.77-lbs. Will anchored his bag with a beautiful 7.52-lb largemouth. |
