AFT North Dakota Staged Two Tournaments
Tyler Frederick of Bismarck, North Dakota took top honors with an impressive three fish limit weighing 9.61 pounds on Lake Audobon on Saturday, June 4, 2016. He also caught the big fish weighing 3.96 pounds. Tyler was using the new scatter raps in perch colors to fish the rip-rap along Highway 37. He caught his big bass on the first cast and went on to fill his limit to win and capture the big bass money.
Despite high winds the American Bass Anglers staged two tournaments over the weekend at Audubon and North Audubon. The lakes are joined by a culvert and are both premier small mouth bass lakes.
The next day, the tournament was on the smaller sister lake of North Audubon. Again, the wind was a factor with gusts up to 30 mph. This lake proved to be a challenge, however, Richard Roland of Crosby, North Dakota managed to bring home his second title of the year with a three fish limit of 7.3 pounds with a kicker fish weighing 3.4 pounds. Richard found the winning bag on the top of the sunken islands that had rocks and weeds. All his keeper fish were caught on a drop shot rigged with a white fluke.
The next event is scheduled for Spiritwood Lake, north of Jamestown, on June 18th. Anyone interested in joining us on this beautiful lake for a chance to catch giant smallmouth bass, please call Richard Roland at (701)570-0598.
