George Smith Wins at Long Pond

George Smith of Bourne, MA took the win for the AFT D5 event on May 7th, held on Long Pond.

When it was all said and done, long time ABA AFT life member George Smith brought in a huge bag weighing 17.09 pounds, anchored by a largemouth bass weighing 5.18 pounds. That bass came from a lake that is predominately known for it's smallmouth. George fished bedding fish with a green pumpkin tube and culled out four fish. Surprisingly enough, he caught the largemouth on a drop shot bait near some wood. George
earned a total of $563 for his effort.

It was a cool SE blustery windy day with the air temps in the low 50's. The bite was on for most of the anglers as the huge smallmouth bass were cruising and setting up for the spawn. As it turned out, some huge smallies were weighed in with a few over 4 pounds with one being predicted at 5 pounds.

Top Five Finishers:
1. George Smith           17.09 lbs
2. Billy Barrett              16.57 lbs
3. Nick Ambrosini          16.34 lbs
4. Cameron Smith         14.92 lbs
5. Louie Bernardo         14.72 lbs
