Travis Clay  Wins on Sinclair 

February 29, 2020, Travis Clay from Jackson, GA., wins the Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour Division 72 on Sinclair. 

Travis Clay of Jackson, GA took home the first place trophy and $824.00 cash on February 29, 2020 at the Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tournament held on Lake Sinclair for D72.  

Travis said he was fishing shallow using spinnerbaits and chatterbaits to catch his five fish limit weighing 18.51 pounds.  

It had been several years since he fished an ABA tournament, but now that he has renewed his membership he plans to be back to compete with us again.  

Travis also enjoys fishing with his 12 year old son, and is sharing his fishing knowledge with him.

Aaron Batson won the Big Bass trophy and $480.00 cash for the optional Big Bass pot with an awesome 7.98 pounder!

His total scale weight was 17.90 pounds which put him in second place, winning another trophy and additional cash of $548.00.

He is now in the lead for the $100.00 cash prize that Director Benny Howell will give away at the conclusion of the Two-Day event in June for the "D72 Big Bass of the Season".

There were 48 anglers competing for cash, trophies, points, and bragging rights.

The weather was cold and windy, and the water remains muddy from recent rain. All fish caught were released alive.

Director Benny Howell gave draw prizes for the anglers present at the conclusion of the awards. Four $50.00 bills were won by Damian Hall, David Ratliff, Jerry Jones, and Frank Speights.

Frank donated several Army draw prizes that were won by Jim Windham, Niles Murray, Damian Hall, and Brad Gandee.

Assistant Director Danny Taylor continues to keep our tournaments running smoothly by checking boats in the morning and weighing fish in the afternoon. A Big Thank You to Danny!

The next tournament for D72 will be March 15, 2020 on Lake Oconee going out of Sugar Creek Marina.

These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional Angler of the Year (AOY) title. 

The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers (ABA) Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour (BPSFT) Angler of The Year (AOY) Final Round at the BPSFT National Championship. 

In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, BPSFT National Championship tournament.

The Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler.  

All anglers fish for both money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the U.S. are invited to the Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour (BPSFT) National Championship.

Sixteen of those anglers brought back five-fish limits to the scales, but when the scales closed Eric Allen from Robertsdale, AL took the victory with 17.17 pounds.  For the win Allen took home $579 in prize money

October 3 brought post frontal winds and bluebird skies, starting the day off with waning harvest moon. With some fall transition it made for some challenging fishing but beautiful weather to be on the lake. With 8 teams fishing there was only one limit brought to the scales but all others had at least one keeper to weigh, with exception of one team who had to leave lake early due to boat problems.

Out of an overabundance of caution The Team Tour Championship that was scheduled for 10/10-11/2020 on Wheeler Lake has be postponed.  The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 10-20 mph with gust up to 35mph for Saturday, and winds of 10-15 mph with gust up to 20 mph Sunday.  The safety of our anglers is the number on concern and factor when making the tough decisions on postponing a tournament.  The new dates for the Team Tour Championship will be November 21-22 on Wheeler Lak
