Joey Roberts wins on lake Okeechobee

June 21st, 2020 Okeechobee Florida, six Anglers launched from Okeetantie campground near Okeechobee Florida.  4 of those anglers brought back five-fish limits to the scales, but when the scales closed Joey Roberts from Jensen Beach  took the victory with 18.61 LBS.  He accredited his win to flipping and pitching the entire day.  For the win Mr.Roberts took home $294 in prize money.

Second amongst the competitors was New ABA Member Mathew Schorner with 3 fish.

Third place was claimed by Henry Timms Sr with four fish, Mr.Timms said he was scrambling to find the fish.

The Biggest Bass of the tournament was caught by Joey Roberts, earning him the big fish Pot.

The next tournament in this division will take place on July 26th 2020 launching from Okeetantie campground and marina.

These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament. These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional Angler of the Year (AOY) title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers (ABA) Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour (BPSFT) Angler of The Year (AOY) Final Round at the BPSFT National Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, BPSFT National Championship tournament.

The Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All anglers fish for both money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the U.S. are invited to the Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour (BPSFT) National Championship.

Out of an overabundance of caution The Team Tour Championship that was scheduled for 10/10-11/2020 on Wheeler Lake has be postponed.  The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 10-20 mph with gust up to 35mph for Saturday, and winds of 10-15 mph with gust up to 20 mph Sunday.  The safety of our anglers is the number on concern and factor when making the tough decisions on postponing a tournament.  The new dates for the Team Tour Championship will be November 21-22 on Wheeler Lak
