2021 Military Team Bass Tournament
Athens, AL, November 10, 2020 – American Bass Anglers announced today the 2021 Annual Military Team Bass Tournament will be held on May 2-8, 2021, on Lake Marion and Moultrie, SC, and hosted by Santee Cooper Country. This event brings all branches together for a fun-filled week of competition and ultimate Service bragging rights.
Members of the United States Armed Forces from all over the country will make the drive to compete in the 30th annual event at Santee Cooper SC. All active duty or retired Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, National Guard, Reserve, or Coast Guard member are invited to participate. Immediate family of military members, honorably discharged veterans, Department of Defense civilians, and contractors may also fish this event.
“We are looking forward to hosting the American Bass Anglers Military Team Tournament next May here on the Santee Cooper lakes. I know that everyone will be welcomed with good Southern hospitality. The Santee Cooper lakes are known as a world-class fishing destination for anglers and a great vacation location,” said Jane Powell of Santee Cooper County.
“The annual Military Team Bass Tournament is designed to promote bass fishing among all Military Members and provide a platform for bragging rights among the Services. Santee Cooper County is the ideal host for this event with the warm welcome they give all Military members,” said Morris Sheehan, president of American Bass Anglers.

North GA Couples kicks off 2021 season with double header on Lake Lanier.
October 3 brought post frontal winds and bluebird skies, starting the day off with waning harvest moon. With some fall transition it made for some challenging fishing but beautiful weather to be on the lake. With 8 teams fishing there was only one limit brought to the scales but all others had at least one keeper to weigh, with exception of one team who had to leave lake early due to boat problems.
Detweiler Wins $5400 in Florida Central Event on Lake Toho
ATHENS, Al. –Cody Detweiler won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Florida Central tournament, held February 27th on Lake Toho. Running out of Kissimmee Lakefront Park in Kissimmee, FL the Orlando, FL angler caught five bass weighing 20.74 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Detweiler took home a check for $5400 for his win.
Team Tour Championship Postponed
Out of an overabundance of caution The Team Tour Championship that was scheduled for 10/10-11/2020 on Wheeler Lake has be postponed. The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 10-20 mph with gust up to 35mph for Saturday, and winds of 10-15 mph with gust up to 20 mph Sunday. The safety of our anglers is the number on concern and factor when making the tough decisions on postponing a tournament.
