WAYNE GARNER Wins D72 on OCONEE
Wayne Garner of Buckhead, GA took the win on February 13, 2021 at the D72 Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tournament held on Lake Oconee out of Sugar Creek Marina. His five fish limit weighed 17.75 pounds to put him in first place, winning $451 cash and taking home a nice trophy. Wayne anchored his sack with a 4.30 pounder which won him an additional $160 cash
for the optional Big Bass pot, and another trophy. He said he used a spinnerbait around docks most of the day.
There were only 16 anglers to participate in this tournament, probably because the weather was very cold and rainy all day. The temperature stayed in the 30's, and the wind and rain was constant. The lake was stained from the rain, but most of the anglers brought fish to the scales.
Congratulations to the Top Ten:
1 - Wayne Garner 17.75 pounds
2 - Cody Stahl 17.59 pounds
3 - Jerry Jones 13.03 pounds
4 - Derek Johnson 9.84 pounds
5 - Michael Lynch 9.24 pounds
6 - Les Charles 8.84pounds
7 - Samuel Dyal 8.78 pounds
8 - Joel Henderson 8.06 pounds
9 - Stephen Clay 7.45 pounds
10 - Niles Murray 7.35 pounds
Thanks goes out to Bob Clark for helping with the tournament by checking boats in the morning, and weighing fish in the afternoon. Les Charles helped with morning registration. One $50 bill was given as a draw prize, and the lucky winner
was Joseph Toth from Savannah.
