Mike Hearn Jr. and Sugar Walker win on Lake Mitchell
Mike Hearn Jr. and Sugar Walker won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held February 20,2022, on Lake Mitchell. Running out of Higgins Ferry boat ramp out of Clanton, AL, they caught 5 bass weighing 10.47 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $360.00. The winning teams caught their fish on Carolina Rigs.
In second for the 8 teams, Kerry and Heather Wilson caught 4 bass weighing 10.01 pounds. They pocketed a check for $240.00. Kerry won the Man’s Big Fish with a 3.21-pounder.
Taking third place, the team of Ricky and Angie Langston caught 5 bass weighing 8.37 pounds. Angie won the Woman’s Big Fish contest with 2.05 pounder.
In fourth place, Joseph and Dimple Clevinger caught 5 bass weighing 7.71 pounds. Roger and Beckie Williamson rounded out the top five teams with 5 bass weighing 7.26 pounds.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Contestants between 14 and 18 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.
The next divisional tournament will be Sunday, March 20 at the Alabama River out of Swift Creek boat ramp. The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.

Jackson Garners Win on Grand Lake
June 11, 2022. . . Well, it was a great day of fishing for Mr. Kevin Jackson of Monett, MO, who brought in 5 beautiful bass at a total weight of 18.45 lbs. Second place went to Mr. Randy Baskins of Owasso, OK, with 5 alive at 16.15 lbs. Big bass honors went to Bryan Jackson also from Monett, MO, with a 5.70 lbs bass. Despite soaring temps, all fish were in good shape and were returned to the lake safe and sound.
