Kyle Metzger Takes the win on the Jourdan River
September 10th, 2022, Diamondhead, MS. Kyle Metzger won the American Fishing Tour Division-27 MS Gulf Coast tournament presented by American Bass Anglers. Running out of Diamondhead Marina near Diamondhead, Mississippi. Kyle Metzger brought back 5 fish that locked in the scales at 10.59 lbs anchored by a 3.51 lb kicker.
“Well today was filled with emotion," said Kyle. "This morning talking with Chris Beaudrie, the emotions I felt knowing he had a shot winning the Bassmaster open had me on edge all day. I am so overwhelmed with joy on his 2nd place finish, no one works harder and deserves such a great finish! Now back to my day….I had a black out day…. All my cast were near perfect my decisions following the tides were on point, it was as if I couldn’t do any wrong. I had nearly 40 fish today and weeded through a bunch of small guys to catch over 10lbs. Had a lot of fun and have to remind myself to try and not boat flip fish over 3.5lbs it almost didn’t go well. Great start to the points down here, and I can’t wait for the next one!” For the victory Kyle took home a check for $425.
Second place was claimed by Nick Johnson with 5 bass and a total weight of 6.13lbs. For his efforts, Nick took home $212 in prize money. “The day started off slow with my first keeper caught around 8:30 and the day continued to move at a slow pace", said Johnson. "I only caught 6 fish for the whole day and my last keeper came at 1:30. I caught 2 keepers on a frog, 2 on a flipping bait, and 1 on a jig so I had no real pattern.”
Jerry Bullock took third with 5 fish and a total weight of 6.12lbs and took home the BBB Outdoors Apparel Package.
Quote from third place “Well look at that... 2nd beat me by 1 ounce… Congratulations Kyle and Nick”
The Biggest Bass of the tournament was caught by Kyle Metzger. His fish locked in the scales at 3.51 lbs earning him $65.
