ABA Introduces the Professional League
Empowering Anglers to Control Their Own Destiny (UPDATE)
September 18, 2023, Athens, AL - American Bass Anglers, Inc. is excited to announce the launch of the ABA Professional League. The new 2024 League brings a revolutionary concept to the world of weekend bass angling, allowing weekend anglers to take control of their destiny on the water.
The ABA Professional League allows weekend anglers to compete solo for the first time in a National Series. With the first events scheduled in early January 2024, the series comprises 16 divisions, each hosting three (3) one-day Divisional qualifying tournaments and one (1) two-day Divisional Championship.
The entry fee for each one-day qualifying tournament Championship is $325, including big bass. The series will offer the strongest payout in the tournament, fishing for a national series at 80%. Anglers tired of fishing for way less than 70% at single-day events should take a hard look at this tour.
The top award for a one-day divisional event jumps to $10,000 with a full field, and Caymas Owners can earn an additional $7,000 through the Caymas Cash program. $17,000 at a one-day event is a great payout.
Anglers will also accumulate points based on their performance in each event. The system will combine the best three one-day events and the best two-day event, fished in any division, to establish the national standings. The system will also combine the best three one-day and the best two-day events, fished within a division to establish the angler’s divisional standings. The National standings will play a significant role in determining the invitations to the 2025 Championship.
The ABA Professional League also empowers anglers with unparalleled flexibility. If they encounter a low-scoring tournament, they can choose to fish in one-day or two-day events from different divisions to enhance their total National points and influence their national standing within the series.
Divisional points will be very important heading into the 2025 Championship. Each Division’s Angler of the Year will compete head-to-head for the coveted title of Angler of the Year. Notably, the highest-finishing AOY at the Championship will earn a cash award.
Integrity and fair play are paramount, and in the ABA Professional League truth verification will be implemented at events, ensuring a level playing field for all participants.
The Championship will be held in spring 2025 at Lake Eufaula, AL.
Morris Sheehan, Owner of American Bass Anglers, Inc., expressed his enthusiasm for the ABA Professional League, stating, "Our aim is to provide a platform where anglers can rely on their instincts and fishing skills to chart their own path. While the Open Series goes away, the ABA Professional League will redefine weekend bass tournaments and set a new standard by offering a higher level of competition. As for our Co-Anglers, we will have more exciting news coming that will also provide them a path."
While schedules for the upcoming events are being finalized to avoid conflicts with other major tournaments, below are the Divisions and Lakes planned for the ABA Solo Tour in 2024. Our tournament managers are the best in the country, and they have worked meticulously to plan and schedule the 2024 tournaments. While we know no matter what we do, others will schedule on top of these, we applaud our tournament managers for doing what they could to avoid any conflicts.
The Professional League is for anglers who want to fish solo without distraction, control their own destiny, and fish for more money while being treated as professional anglers.
