Athens, AL — October 1, 2024 — American Bass Anglers (ABA) has announced the cancellation and rescheduling of the 2024 American Fishing Tour Championship due to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, which has caused severe flooding and power outages in Columbia, South Carolina, and surrounding areas.
Our thoughts are with the Columbia community, and everyone affected by this disaster. The safety and well-being of the residents, first responders, and our anglers remain our top priority. We recognize the immense challenges the region faces, and we have made this difficult decision with deep sympathy and respect for the ongoing recovery efforts.
ABA has coordinated with Lake Murray events coordinator who recommends we not hold this championship at a time when the community is enduring such hardship. We are committed to ensuring that our presence does not place additional strain on local resources during this critical period.
In coordination with Lake Murray/Capital City Country we are rescheduling the AFT Championship at Lake Murray, Columbia SC for May 5-9, 2025. ABA will be providing updates and additional information via our website and social media channels.
