October 26, 2024, Cordele, Georgia – Jim Murray of Parrot, Georgia, claimed victory at the American Fishing Tour Division 74 event held at Lake Blackshear on October 26, 2024. The event, a part of the American Fishing Tour, attracted top local anglers, each competing for cash prizes and valuable divisional and national points.
Murray led the pack with an impressive total weight of 15.31 pounds, securing first place and earning a cash prize of $425. Despite challenging water conditions, he managed to complete his limit before weigh-in, solidifying his win.
Coming in second was George Haynie from Cordele, Georgia, with a catch totaling 13.96 pounds, which included a notable 4.27-pound kicker. Haynie received a cash prize of $212. In third place, Jeff Kight of Fitzgerald, Georgia, finished with a five-fish limit weighing 9.14 pounds.
In fourth place, Shannen Kitchens from Americus, Georgia, weighed in a solid four-fish catch totaling 8.84 pounds. Rounding out the top five, Henry Starks brought in three fish with a total weight of 6.23 pounds. The Big Fish honors went to Jimmy Troxell, who landed a standout 4.31-pound bass.

The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA AFT National Championship tournament to be held in October 2025 on Lake Eufaula.
These tournaments are crucial for anglers as they accumulate points toward the coveted Divisional Angler of the Year title.
