Taylor Claims Victory at Lake Russell

November 3, 2024, Elberton, GA. Darren Taylor of Lexington, GA, secured a first-place finish at the Division 25 – SC Northwest American Fishing Tour tournament held at Lake R.B. Russell on November 3, 2024. Competing against top anglers from the region, Taylor led the field with a total catch weighing 12.16 pounds, The largest being 3.26-pounds. Darron earned $579 cash prize and an additional $132 from the first-place option pot.

In second place was Brad Thompson of Little Mountain, SC, who recorded a total weight of 10.46 pounds, including a 2.98-pound bass, earning him $346 in prize money and an additional $88 from the second-place option pot.

Jesse Elder from Martin, GA, took third place with a catch totaling 10.44 pounds, receiving a $115 cash prize.

Donald Miller caught the tournament’s largest bass at 3.42 pounds, securing a bonus payout of $105.

Anglers and fishing enthusiasts can look forward to the next Division 25 event on December 1, 2024, at Lake Hartwell. These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA AFT National Championship tournament to be held in October 2025 on Lake Eufaula.

These tournaments are crucial for anglers as they accumulate points toward the coveted Divisional Angler of the Year title. Points champions from each division will compete in the American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round, held at the AFT Championship. Additionally, the top 500 anglers from all divisions will qualify for the three-day ABA AFT National Championship, taking place next October on Lake Eufaula.
