What you should know about Anthony:

I'm honest to a fault.

How Anthony started fishing

My parents took me fishing when I wasn't even old enough to walk, my earliest memories are from the bottom of an aluminum flat bottom boat and of a small snoopy rod and reel, I've always been hooked I suppose. I started fishing tournaments with ABA in 2002.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

It would be nice to fish professionally but I'm just not at that level and that's okay, I love bass fishing and I am a competitive person so being able to fish club tournament and ABA events provides me with the ability to do what I want. I'd like to eventually get back to a National Championship with ABA and win, guess only time will tell.

Favorite way to fish

My favorite way to fish is probably a crainkbait, it's a little technical and a little uncertain, but you can get fish schooling and really catch em quick, it's a lot of fun. Besides when a fish hits you never know what might come up but hopefully it the tournament winner!

Most exciting fishing experience

I'd spend summers with my Grandparents and I always loved going with my grandfather, one day in July circa 1989 we caught the biggest and the most bluegill I've ever seen along with bass and catfish, all of them on cane poles, it was an awesome day! I sure miss my granddaddy.

How Anthony preps for a tournament

Wow, there's isn't enough space here to go over all that but the amount of prep doesn't always result in the desired out come.

Three favorite search baits

Crainkbait, Jerkbait, and Spinnerbait,

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

I've had many 1st place finishes in clubs and smaller ABA tournaments, I usually do best if I fish my strengths and focus on what I need to do when conditions change. I've learned that trying to put friends or other non-boaters in the most comfortable positions usually translates into a poorer outcome for the even.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

The mental stress of not figuring out the fish one the water after you've pre-fished and your fish have moved.

When tournaments don't go my way

Try to break the event down into categories and pick apart my decisions, what I did and why I did it. I can usually pinpoint what I should have done and I try to learn from the mistakes so I don't make them again.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Have fun, it's fishing not catching, because if you don't enjoy it you won't do it very long.

Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

Use fast moving search baits that don't require a specific technique to catch fish like spinnerbaits or lipless crainkbaits, keep the lure wet and keep moving, you will find fish.
