In the world of weekend bass angling, there’s a new revolution on the horizon, and it’s called the ABA Professional League. Launched by American Bass Anglers, Inc., this league is set to empower weekend anglers and change the way they experience competitive fishing. One of the exciting divisions within this league is the North Alabama Division, promising thrilling tournaments at some of the most iconic fishing destinations in the region.
A Paradigm Shift in Bass Angling
The ABA Professional League introduces a groundbreaking concept by allowing weekend anglers to compete solo in a National Series. This shift represents a remarkable opportunity for anglers to take control of their destinies on the water. With the first events scheduled for early January 2024, the series consists of 16 divisions, each hosting three one-day Divisional qualifying tournaments and one two-day Divisional Championship.
Competitive Payouts and Prizes
One of the most attractive features of the ABA Professional League is its commitment to offering competitive payouts. Anglers who have long been frustrated by fishing for less than 70% at single-day events will find solace in this tour, as it provides a national series payout of 80%, and ABA does not fund upper pro-tours with your entry entry fee.
For those who excel, the top award for a one-day divisional event can reach an impressive $10,000 with a full field. Additionally, Caymas Owners have the chance to earn an extra $7,000 through the Caymas Cash program, bringing the total potential payout to a staggering $17,000 at a one-day event.
Flexibility and Customization
Flexibility is key in the ABA Professional League. Anglers can accumulate points based on their performance in each event, with the best three one-day events and the best two-day event, regardless of the division, counting towards national standings. This unique system allows anglers to strategically choose their events and enhance their national standing within the series.
Moreover, the league empowers anglers to overcome low-scoring tournaments by participating in one-day or two-day events from different divisions. This flexibility enables them to influence their national standings positively.
Competing for Angler of the Year
The league also places a significant emphasis on rewarding excellence. Each Division’s Angler of the Year will have the chance to compete head-to-head for the coveted title of Angler of the Year at the Championship, with cash awards on the line.
A Level Playing Field
Integrity and fairness are paramount in the ABA Professional League. Truth verification measures are implemented at events to ensure a level playing field for all participants, emphasizing the league’s commitment to fair play.
The Road to the Championship
The grand finale of the ABA Professional League is the Championship, scheduled to take place in spring 2025. This prestigious event will bring together the top anglers from across the nation, vying for the ultimate title in weekend bass angling.
Morris Sheehan, Owner of American Bass Anglers, Inc., expresses his enthusiasm for the league, stating, “Our aim is to provide a platform where anglers can rely on their instincts and fishing skills to chart their path. The ABA Professional League will redefine weekend bass tournaments and set a new standard by offering a higher level of competition.”
