ABA Pro League Texas Division Begins March 22nd at Sam Rayburn for 2025

ATHENS, Ala. – The 2025 season for Texas division of the ABA Pro League will be hosting this first event at Cassels Boykin Park off the base of the Hwy 147 bridge March 22nd.  This is an area that most fisherman run to during tournaments due to all the pockets and tributaries nearby.  Chasing these bass from their winter depths and schools to their shallow water spawning flats is the transition that most anglers can’t wait for.

Sam Rayburn is one of the most anticipated bodies of water to fish in the state of Texas with deep and shallow fishing patterns for everyone. Many tournament trails have already been to Sam Rayburn to start their seasons, some as early as the first weeks of January.  Early season fishing can produce some very good 5-fish limits but also expose fisherman to some brutally cold weather.

Looking ahead for March 22nd the forecast is always an assumption but temps could be in the mid 70’s making this event even better.  As the lake temperature warms up, so does the fishing.  This could be enough for fish to be on beds.  It is just a couple weeks before the 2025 season for the ABA Professional League hits the water.

Each division in 2025 will host three one-day qualifying tournaments and a two-day Divisional Championship. With entry fees of $350 per event (including big bass), the league ensures an 80% payout – one of the most competitive in the sport.  At divisional events, the top prize is over $4000.00 for a one-day tournament (based on a 60 boat field), and Caymas Boat owners can win an additional $7,000 through the Caymas Cash program, bringing total potential winnings to $10,000 for a single event with as many entries.

Anglers will accumulate points throughout the season, with national and divisional standings playing key roles in qualifying for the prestigious 2026 Ray Scott Championship.

Anglers who compete within their division and fish all 4 events can qualify for the Ray Scott by finishing in the top 10 by points.  If you do, you receive an automatic berth.

The ABA Professional League also allows anglers to optimize their season by competing in multiple divisions. Their best three one-day finishes, and their best two-day event will count toward their national ranking, giving them the ability to recover from a low-scoring event and maximize their chances. This unique flexibility ensures anglers have control over their progress throughout the season.  The remaining slots for the field at the Ray Scott will then come from the top 200 in the national points race.

Division-level Angler of the Year winners will also face off at the Championship, with a cash prize awaiting the top-performing AOY contender.
