This Memorial Day, we all pause in solemn remembrance and gratitude for the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. As Americans, we are deeply indebted to those who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we hold dear.
Since our founding in 1976 as the Military Bass Anglers Association, the spirit of service has been woven into the fabric of who we are. Many of our members have worn the uniform. Many still do. And many more cast a line today in peaceful waters because someone else once stood in harm’s way to defend that right.
Across the country, Memorial Day weekend is marked with backyard barbecues, time on the lake, and gatherings with family and friends. It’s a celebration of life, a celebration of freedom, and of the American spirit. But we must never forget—this freedom we enjoy came at a high cost. The laughter around the grill, the calm of an early morning on the water, the cheers at a weigh-in—all of it is made possible by the men and women who gave everything so we could live free.
To those who have lost a brother, sister, friend, or fellow warrior, we stand with you. We remember them. We speak their names. And can all carry their legacy forward with honor by being patriots and living our lives in a way that honors their sacrifice.
On this day, especially, seeing the American Flag wave in the wind over cities, homes, and yes, even bass tournaments seems a little more special. It gives us great pride, but with the remembrance of the cost of our freedoms so freely given by patriots.

Let us never take for granted the quiet sunrise on the lake, the peaceful cast into open water, or the fellowship we share on tournament day. These moments are gifts, paid for by the courage of others.

Their presence ensures the continued defense of U.S. interests and global stability.
