Jason Burroughs wins on Lake Russell

March 19, 2023 Elberton, GA. 42 South Carolina Division 25 American Fishing Tour anglers launched from Highway 72 ramp between Elberton, GA and Calhoun Falls, SC. Thirty-three of those anglers brought back five-fish limits to the scales, but when the scales closed, Jason Burroughs from Hodges, SC, took the victory with five spotted bass that hit the scales with a total weight of 17.36lb.For the win, Jason took home $790 and a plaque for his first place finish, as well as $246 in prize money from the first place option pot, bringing his total to $1036. Great job, Jason!

Second amongst the competitors was Tony Holliday from Piedmont, SC, with five fish that locked in the scales at 16.44lb and anchored with a 4.66lb largemouth. For his efforts, he took home a plaque plus $504 in cash as well as an additional $164 in prize money from the second place option pot.

Third place was claimed by Bradley Day of Anderson, SC, with five fish and a total weight of 16.29lb. For his efforts, he took home $238 cash.

Fourth place was taken by Landon Smith of Abbeville, SC with a five fish bag that weighed in at 15.07lb. His catch earned him $187 in prize money.

Fifth place was received by Denie Johnson of Athens, GA, who weighed in five fish for 14.40lb, earning him $151.


Justin Raines and Joe Anders, both from Easley, SC, took down our last paid positions at $115 for 6th and $72 for 7th place, respectively. 

The Biggest Bass of the tournament was a largemouth caught by Joseph Osbourne. His fish locked in the scales at 5.16lb earning him $195 in prize money and a plaque for his efforts. Great job Joseph!

These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
