Change of Venue Ray Scott Championship

In a recent development, American Bass Anglers (ABA) officials have made an important announcement regarding the upcoming 9th annual Ray Scott Championship. Presented by Caymas Boats, this prestigious tournament will now take place at Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Georgia, with a change of location from its originally scheduled Dayton, Tennessee venue. The event is scheduled to unfold from March 30 to April 5, 2023, and launch from Earle May Boat Basin, conveniently situated alongside the Flint River in the heart of Bainbridge. Registration for qualified anglers is currently open.

Morris Sheehan, President of American Bass Anglers, expressed his enthusiasm about this venue change, emphasizing the organization’s excitement to collaborate with Visit Bainbridge for this tournament. He cited the benefits of this move, ensuring enhanced support and seamless event logistics for the participating anglers. Additionally, Sheehan highlighted the warm hospitality that Georgia, particularly the Bainbridge community, consistently extends to ABA events. He thanked Crystal Hines and Visit Bainbridge for their diligent efforts and partnership in hosting this significant tournament.

Lake Seminole, spanning an impressive 37,500 acres and borders Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. The lake derives its name from the Seminole Native Americans who once inhabited the region thousands of years ago. This expansive water body promises an angler’s paradise, boasting a diverse range of fish species thriving in various water conditions from river and lake fishing. Stretching 37 miles in length, Lake Seminole is renowned for its prized Largemouth Bass population and holds a special place in the hearts of fishing enthusiasts, even earning recognition from Bassmasters as a top location.

Generous Prizes and Contingency Awards Await

At the Ray Scott Championship, and by invitation only, the most skilled weekend anglers in the nation will compete for a share of the impressive $200,000 prize pool, which includes cash and valuable prizes, along with enticing sponsor contingency awards. The champion boater will have the honor of receiving a CX20 Caymas boat powered by a Mercury Motor, while the champion co-angler will claim a CX18 Caymas boat with a Mercury Motor. In addition, participants can look forward to various draw prizes, and sponsor contingency awards. Notably, TH Marine offers a $500 bonus to the top finisher utilizing an Atlas Jack Plate. Furthermore, Caymas Boats extends their Caymas Cash award of up to $7,000 to the winning boater who competes from a Caymas Boat, while Mercury Marine awards $1,000 to the winner if they fish with a Mercury Motor (Sponsor awards are subject to anglers being registered for their programs).
