Zach Green Claims Victory at Lake Russell

September 8, 2024 – Lake R.B. Russell, South Carolina

Zach Green, hailing from Elberton, Georgia, secured first place at the Division 25 SC Northwest tournament, held on September 8, 2024, at the Highway 72 ramp on Lake Russell. This event, part of the 2025 Season of American Fishing Tour (AFT), always attracts skilled anglers from across the region, all vying for cash and critical divisional and national points.

Green’s winning total catch weighed in at 14.00 pounds, highlighted by a 4.33-pound bass. His performance earned him the top prize, which included a first-place plaque and $432 in winnings, along with an additional $78 from the first-place option pot.

Russell Dobbins from Easley, South Carolina, finished in second place with a total weight of 12.91 pounds, which featured the tournament’s largest catch—a 5.06-pound bass. Dobbins took home a second-place plaque, $223 in prize money, and an additional $52 from the second-place option pot.

Rounding out the top three was Steven Webb, also from Elberton, Georgia, who landed 12.52 pounds of fish, earning him $79.

The competition was fierce, with strong showings from other top anglers, including Brad Benfield, Don Kneece, and Joseph Parks, who finished in the top six, adding to the tournament’s competitive atmosphere.

In addition to his second-place finish, Dobbins earned recognition for catching the tournament’s biggest bass, a 5.06-pounder, which secured him an extra cash prize of $79.
