Lake Chickamauga to Host 2025 American Couples Series Championship
Dayton, TN — American Bass Anglers is pleased to announce that the 2025 American Couples Series Championship will be held on the renowned Lake Chickamauga, headquartered in Dayton, Tennessee, from September 20-26, 2025. This premier event will welcome the top 200 qualifying couples from across the country for a week-long celebration of competition, partnership, and family-friendly fishing.
Lake Chickamauga, known nationwide for its exceptional bass fishing, provides the perfect backdrop for this signature championship event. Hosted in partnership with the Rhea County Department of Tourism, the championship brings together passionate anglers and their families in a setting that combines natural beauty, Southern hospitality, and elite competition.
The championship week will begin with multiple days of official practice, leading into the registration and welcome dinner on Wednesday, September 24. Anglers will gather for an evening of camaraderie and orientation as they prepare for two days of championship fishing. Daily takeoffs and weigh-ins will be conducted at a public launch facility capable of accommodating the large field, with final weigh-in and awards ceremony taking place on Friday, September 26.
Throughout the event, attendees will experience the charm of downtown Dayton, explore the scenic Rhea County area, and enjoy a variety of local restaurants, shops, and attractions. As always, American Bass Anglers will provide national media coverage and digital promotion of the event, including featured content, updates, and live coverage on ABA’s social platforms and website.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Couples Championship to Lake Chickamauga and the Dayton community,” said Morris Sheehan, President of American Bass Anglers. “This event is not just about fishing—it’s about couples sharing a passion for the outdoors and building memories together. Lake Chickamauga is the perfect place to celebrate that spirit.”

About the Couples Series
In the American Couples Series, anglers pair up for a team effort. Most teams consist of a husband and a wife, but that’s not a rule. Teams can consist of a boyfriend and girlfriend combination, a father-daughter duo, or any combination of one male and one female. The teams compete in several regional or state divisions throughout the year. Once a pair forms a team, however, the two must fish together as a team throughout the season to be eligible to accumulate points and qualify for the annual national championship.
The entry fee for the American Couples Series one-day qualifying events is $100, and the top teams are invited to compete in the championship each fall.
