Tucker and Bella Veronee Win on Lake Murray

November 15, 2025, Lexington, SC –Tucker and Bella Veronee from Lexington clinched victory at the third tournament of the South Carolina Couples Trail, Division 11, held on Lake Murray.  The event, part of the American Couples Series, showcased outstanding fishing, teamwork, and camaraderie as sixteen teams competed for cash and important divisional and national points.

Tucker and Bella topped the leaderboard with a total catch of 23.44 pounds. This impressive haul earned them first place with 196 points and a cash prize of $550.

Utilising forward-facing sonar, Tucker and Bella targeted bass chasing bait balls in the morning.  The afternoon bite came on stumps or scattered grass patches.

The team of Cole Taylor and Addyson Hale used their solo event to compete on Lake Murray.  Cole weighed in a total of 19.12 pounds to take second place, anchored by a 6.10-pound lunker for men’s big bass of the tournament.  Cole caught his fish in brush using a Dimiki rig and a jerk bait. He also used panoptics to find suspended fish around bait.  Second place honors earned 195 points and $350 in cash.  Cole also won $80 for men’s big bass.

The new team of Tanner Schultz and Shelbie Long made a strong impression with their third-place finish, weighing in a 17.74-pound sack for 194 points and $200.

Harry and Kim Johnson brought 12.90 pounds to the scale, earning 4th-place, 193 points and $100.  Kim weighed in a 3.22-pound bass to earn $75 in cash for ladies’ big bass.

In the American Couples Series, anglers pair up for a team effort. Most teams consist of a husband and a wife, but that’s not a rule. Teams can consist of a boyfriend and girlfriend combination, a father and daughter duo, or any combination of one male and one female.

The teams compete in several regional or state divisions throughout the year. Once a pair forms a team, however, the two must fish together as a team throughout the season to be eligible to accumulate points and qualify for the annual national championship.

The entry fee for the American Couples Series one-day events is $100 with an optional $10 big bass and the top teams are invited to compete in the championship each fall.
