Wayne Goff Takes the win on Lake Blackshear

Wayne Goff from Rebecca, Georgia, emerged victorious at the American Fishing Tour Division 74 tournament on February 8, 2025, held at Lake Blackshear. Goff impressed the judges by turning in a five-bass limit weighing a total of 18.88 pounds, highlighted by an anchor fish of 5.33 pounds. His strong performance earned him a first-place cash prize of $500. Goff mentioned that he caught most of his fish using crankbaits.

Not far behind, Shannen Kitchens of Americus, Georgia, took second place with a five-bass limit coming in at 17.91 pounds—anchored by a solid 5.00-pounder—which netted him $288. Third place went to Derrcek Burnam from Byromville, Georgia, whose five-bass limit weighed 16.73 pounds, earning him $94.

In fourth place, Johnny Smith of Albany, Georgia, recorded a five-bass limit of 13.86 pounds, anchored by a 4.71-pound fish. Kenneth Young of Vienna, Georgia, rounded out the top five with a five-bass limit totaling 13.76 pounds.

These tournaments are more than just competitions—they’re a chance for anglers to earn valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will advance to the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. Plus, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will have the opportunity to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
