Mike Mercier Wins at ABA Division 36 on Lake Cochituate

On August 24, 2025, amid the serene waters of Lake Cochituate, Mike Mercier (shown right) of Leicester emerged as the champion in the American Fishing Tour’s Division 36 event. Drawing skilled anglers from across the region, the tournament offered not just cash prizes but also crucial points toward divisional and national standings.

Mercier dominated with a remarkable 15.58-pound catch, securing first place and a $451 payout. Despite a challenging day for many competitors, he honed in on an effective strategy, making key late adjustments to seal his win.

Hot on his heels, Nate Smith of Uxbridge took second with 15.39 pounds, earning $254.

Donny Anyon of Charlton rounded out the podium in third with 13.25 pounds and a $79 prize.

Other standout performers included Quincy Ortiz, Gordon Bocash, and Justin Smith, whose strong showings heightened the event’s excitement and camaraderie.

Gordon Bocash brought in the tournament’s biggest bass at 4.35 pounds, which netted him a $300 bonus.
