The Countdown to Toho Begins

Calling all Anglers: Team Series Inaugural Event 1/7/2024 at Lake Toho

Kissimmee, FL, December 18, 2024 – Anticipation is mounting among bass tournament enthusiasts for the beginning of the Bass Fishing Season. On January 7, 2024, the stage will be set for the inaugural event of the ABA Team Series’ Central Florida Division.

Lake Toho, nestled in the heart of Kissimmee, FL, is a bass angler’s paradise. Known for its legendary largemouth bass and pristine shoreline, this gem of a lake promises an unforgettable experience for anglers seeking their next big catch. With Lakefront Park as the launch point, competitors are gearing up for a day filled with exhilarating fishing action.

Henry Montgomery, the esteemed director of the Central Florida Division, is no stranger to the world of bass fishing. As the owner of BLANPRO Bait and Tackle, located in Green Cove Springs, Montgomery brings a wealth of experience and passion to the event.

Lake Toho, or Lake Tohopekaliga to give it its full name, is a central Florida icon. This body of water is renowned for its consistently high-quality fishing experiences. Its sprawling 22,700 acres provide ample space for anglers to explore, making it an ideal choice for the launch of the Central Florida Division’s Team Series.

The lake’s habitat is a prime breeding ground for trophy-sized largemouth bass, attracting anglers from across the nation. It’s no wonder that Lake Toho is hailed as one of Florida’s best bass fishing destinations. With its expansive grass beds, lily pad fields, and submerged vegetation, the lake offers a dynamic range of fishing environments.

Teams participating in this event will have the chance to test their skills against some of the most sought-after freshwater predators in the region. The challenge lies in the art of presenting lures amidst the lake’s intricate structure and vegetation.

Lakefront Park, the launch site for the event, offers easy access to the lake, making it an angler-friendly venue. With modern facilities, ample parking, and scenic views, it sets the stage for a fantastic day on the water.

Henry Montgomery, who knows Lake Toho like the back of his hand, is eager to see how the teams tackle the challenge. “This lake has a lot to offer, and I can’t wait to see the big catches that come out of Toho. The Central Florida Division is going to make a big splash in the ABA Team Series, and it all starts right here on Lake Toho,” he eagerly anticipates.

The new team series for 2024 is a team format designed with a focus on grassroots weekend bass anglers with low entry fees, a strong 80% at the ramp payout, a close-to-home event, and a year-end championship.

Each division in the 2024 Team Series will host six events, including five qualifying events and one divisional championship. Anglers can participate with a $150 entry fee, which includes the big bass pot. The event will offer an 80% payback, and points will be awarded based on performance in these events, with teams accumulating points from their best four divisional qualifying events along with their divisional championship. This scoring system ensures that even teams with some challenging events can still compete for top honors.

The highest-ranking teams in terms of national points will receive invitations to compete in the Team Series National Championship, scheduled for late spring 2025. The location of this championship event will be centrally located to accommodate teams from across the country.

Local divisions will be organized and managed by experienced local ABA tournament directors, with schedules to be released soon and available online. Further information, including rules and division schedules, will also be made available on the official American Bass Anglers website at www.americanbassanglers.com/Team.
