Casey and Smith Capture Victory at Clark’s Hill Lake

Appling, GA — March 1, 2025 — Cy Casey and Lily Smith emerged victorious at the American Bass Anglers Couples Series season opener, North GA Division 5, held on Clark’s Hill Lake. The tournament saw a mix of seasoned competitors and new teams showcasing impressive fishing skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship as anglers battled for top honors.

Casey and Smith, newcomers to the division, delivered an outstanding performance, securing first place with a total weight of 17.60 pounds. Their success was highlighted by Cy Casey’s 5.83-pound catch, which earned him both the Men’s Big Bass title and the largest bass of the tournament. For their efforts, the duo took home $600 in winnings, plus an additional $90 for the Men’s Big Bass.

In second place, Aubrey and Jessica Keller weighed in a solid bag totaling 15.00 pounds, earning $350 for their efforts.

Rudy and Melanie Smith secured the third spot with a close 14.80 pounds, collecting $250 in prize money.

Taking fourth place was the team of Darren and Amy Taylor claimed fourth place with 14.79 pounds, earning $150.

The Ladies Big Bass award went to Jerri Beam for her impressive 5.02-pound largemouth bass, earning her the $90 pot.

Following the weigh-in, plaques were presented to the AOY Top 5 from the 2024 season:

  • 1st: Darren & Amy Taylor
  • 2nd: Charlie & April Adams
  • 3rd: Miles & Pam Knox
  • Tied for 4th: Benny & Joyce Howell and Alex Shook & Morgan Partin
