ATHENS, Ala. – Todd Harris claimed victory at the 2025 American Bass Anglers Professional League, presented by Caymas Boats, during the Virginia Division 19 season opener held on March 1, 2025, at Kerr/Buggs Island Lake.
Launching from Nutbush Recreation Ramp in Henderson, NC, the Lexington, NC angler brought in a five-bass limit weighing 15.39 pounds, including a 5.23-pound kicker. For his efforts, Harris earned a $2,450 first-place prize and an additional $280 for catching the Big Bass of the event.
“I started my day close to the ramp, caught a few keepers early, and lost one that would have helped,” Harris said. “Once the wind picked up, I began targeting windy points until I found them with a swimbait-style lure.”
Austin Woody of Burlington, NC, secured second place with a five-bass limit weighing 13.83 pounds, earning him $1,200.

“I started my day near the first bridge with an early boat number. I didn’t get my first bite until around 10:30, which helped me figure things out,” Woody said. “After that, I spent most of the day searching and finally caught my fifth fish around 2:45.”
Joel Eberts of Powhatan, VA, finished third with a five-bass limit weighing 13.42 pounds, collecting $900.

“Today, I caught my two better fish early on, primarily using natural-color crankbaits or jerkbaits in shallow water, about 4 to 6 feet deep,” Eberts said.
In fourth place, Bryson Peed of Clarksville, VA, weighed in a five-bass limit totaling 13.26 pounds. Rounding out the top five, Danny Moss Jr. brought in five bass weighing 12.71 pounds.
Lee C. Allred of Youngsville, NC won a set of WattCycle 110Ah Lithium IonTrolling Motors Batteries.

At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance to the 2026 Ray Scott Championship, to be held in April 2026.
