Joe Minor Wins on Lake Mitchell

April 5, 2025 | Clanton, Alabama – Joe Minor of Clanton, Alabama, secured first place at the American Fishing Tour Division 24 event held on Lake Mitchell at Higgins Ferry Park on April 5. The tournament, part of American Bass Anglers’ American Fishing Tour, brought together a competitive field of local anglers vying for cash prizes and valuable points toward divisional and national standings.

Minor led the event with a five-bass limit weighing 14.50 pounds, earning the top prize of $539.

Finishing in second place was Jeremy Renfroe of Trussville, Alabama, who brought in a total of 13.44 pounds to claim a $317 payout.

Lynal Chappell from Westover, Alabama, took third, with a 13.16-pound limit. His catch included the tournament’s Big Bass, a 4.07-pounder, earning him a combined total of $206—$101 for third place and $105 for Big Bass honors.

Sam Fish of Alexander City, Alabama, rounded out the top four with a 12.60-pound limit, which earned him $72.

The next event in Division 24 is the two-day qualifying tournament scheduled for May 17–18, 2025. Day one will be held on the Alabama River, launching from Cooter’s Pond Park, followed by day two on Lake Jordan, launching from the State Park Ramp near Prattville.

Top 15

Anglers competing in these events earn points toward the division’s Angler of the Year title. Each division’s points champion qualifies to compete in the AFT Angler of the Year Final Round during the American Fishing Tour Championship. Additionally, the top 500 anglers across all divisions will earn eligibility to compete in the 2025 AFT National Championship, scheduled for October 4–10 on Lake Eufaula, Alabama.
