On April 6, 2024, in Clanton, Alabama, Eric Sommers emerged as the American Fishing Tour Division 24 tournament winner at Lake Mitchell. Launching from Higgins Ferry Park, Sommers captured first place by catching five fish totaling 15.84 pounds, earning him a prize of $478.
Jason Nixon followed closely in second place with a haul of five fish weighing 15.71 pounds, for which he received $268. Tommy Pegues III claimed third place, also with five fish, but with a total weight of 14.27 pounds, taking home $86. Additionally, Randy Maharrey won the Big Bass award with a 4.31-pound catch, securing $85.
The forthcoming event in this series, the Two Day tournament, is scheduled for anglers who have participated in at least four events this year. It will commence on May 18, 2024, at Lake Jordan, with the launch from the State Park Ramp near Prattville, and will continue on May 19 at the Alabama River, launching from Cooters Pond, also near Prattville.
