Prince Wins Professional League Opener on Lake Lanier

ATHENS, Ala- Alex T. Prince won the 2024 American Bass Anglers Professional League, Presented by Caymas Boats, Georgia Division 8 season opener tournament, held February 10TH, 2024 on Lake Lanier.

Running out of Laurel Park in Gainesville, GA the Blue Ridge, GA angler caught five bass weighing 21.92 pounds including a 6.17-pound kicker largemouth. For the Boater Division victory, Prince took home a check for $4800 for his win and an additional $770 for the big bass award.

“I caught the big bass on my second stop of the morning on a crankbait. I rode around with only two fish until 10:30 am and started catching fish in deep timber in ditches on a baby fluke on a jighead. “Prince said.

Second place Coleman Cloud of Cumming, GA landed a 5-bass limit weighing 20.80 pounds. He earned $2600 for his catch.

“I started out below the bridge and pretty much stayed there all day. I caught several of my fish shallow and some out deep. I was throwing a worm at them watching them on livescope.” Cloud said.

Tyler Campbell of Martin, GA took the third spot for the boaters. He landed a 5-bass limit going 19.20 pounds. He earned $1900 for the effort.

“I caught my fish on the South end of the lake also. I caught them quick, fast, and in a hurry. I found a ditch yesterday during practice and caught a limit in 10 minutes this morning and I was stuck with those fish until 9:00 am and then I caught two bigger fish. It stalled out for me until 2:30 pm when I came back up this way and made one more cull. “Campbell said.

Finishing fourth, Joseph Bart of Buford, GA landed a 5- bass limit weighing 19.03 pounds. Jeff Hendricks of Hull, GA rounded out the top five boaters landed a 5-bass limit weighing a total of 18.53 pounds.
