Greg Yarbrough, hailing from Milledgeville, GA, clinched the coveted title at the AFT D72 tournament hosted on February 10, 2024, on Lake Oconee. Yarbrough’s performance showcased a five-bass limit, tipping the scales at 16.61 pounds, securing his grasp on the first-place accolade along with a commendable cash prize of $807. Noteworthy among his catches was a substantial 4.87-pound bass.

Following suit, Scott Jeffers of Dublin, GA, delivered a sack weighing 14.90 pounds, earning him $526 in cash and the distinguished second-place trophy. Jeffers also claimed the Big Bass honor, accompanied by an additional cash prize of $450 for his impressive 7.15-pound catch.

Completing the top achievers, Rob Johnston of Eatonton, GA, clinched the third position with a cumulative weight of 12.93 pounds, featuring a noteworthy 4.90-pound bass. Johnston was awarded the third-place trophy and a cash prize amounting to $259.

The event garnered participation from 45 skilled anglers, vying for a cumulative payout of $2,205 across seven positions.

After the trophies and cash rewards, four lucky anglers, namely Gerald Healey, Richard Carey, Brian Garner, and Phillip Morris, were bestowed with draw prizes, comprising one $50 Sugar Creek Marina gift card and three $50 bills. Special recognition is extended to the daughters of Sam Montgomery for their role in conducting the draw.
Appreciation is extended to Bob Clark and Danny Taylor for their valuable assistance in facilitating morning registration, conducting boat checks, and overseeing the weighing process at the scales.

These anglers earn valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
