Rodney Elliott Takes Win on Russell

Elberton, GA – March 9, 2024: Amidst the rain, dedicated anglers set out from the Highway 72 ramp between Elberton, GA, and Calhoun Falls, SC for the American Fishing Tour Division 25 South Carolina Northwest Tournament on Lake Russell. Impressively, most of these anglers returned with five-fish limits. However, it was Rodney Elliott hailing from Abbeville, SC, who emerged triumphant, showcasing a stellar performance.

Elliott’s five-bass haul, boasting a total weight of 19.43 lb and anchored by a substantial 5.25 lb largemouth, secured his victory. His skillful navigation of the challenging conditions earned him $500 in prize money along with a well-deserved first-place plaque, plus an additional $90 from the first-place option pot, amounting to a total of $590 in winnings. Congratulations, Rodney!

Jacob Butts of Starr, SC, claimed the runner-up position with a catch weighing 14.70 lb, earning him a plaque and $288 in cash rewards. Meanwhile, Curtis Temples from Saluda, SC, clinched third place with a five-fish haul totaling 14.10 lb. Temples received $90 for his third-place finish and an extra $60 from the second-place option pot.

The tournament’s Biggest Bass honor belonged to none other than Rodney Elliott, whose impressive 5.25 lb largemouth catch earned him an additional $90 in prize money, coupled with a plaque commemorating his achievement.
