Flash Butts Wins Lake Gaston

ATHENS, Ala. – Flash Butts took the win in the 2024 American Bass Anglers Professional League, Presented by Caymas Boats, Virginia Division Event held on Lake Gaston on 4-27-24.

Running out of the Summit Wildlife Access area, Butts of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, was able to put together a five-bass limit weighing 19.28 pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 5.08 pounds. Flash took home $3800.00 for his win.

I caught my fish today sight-fishing between grass and stumps. I caught everything on a jig, and soft plastics said Butts.

Taking second place, Darrell “Duck” Wyatt of Danville, Virginia, weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 16.65 pounds. Duck’s limit was anchored by a bass weighing 4.96 pounds. He took home $2000.00 for his catch.

I caught all my fish today off of one point fishing the shad spawn with a spinnerbait said Wyatt.

Taking third place, Jeremy Aycock of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 16.51 pounds. Aycock carried home a check for $1400.00.

My fish today came from around stumps and grass with a spinnerbait exclaimed Aycock.

Finishing fourth, Shane Doughtie of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina finished with a five-bass limit weighing 16.35 pounds, earning him $1100.00 and rounding out the top five,
Scooter Lilley of Chocowinity, North Carolina, weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 16.18 pounds, earning him $900.00.

Tournament Big Bass honors went to Bryson Peed from Clarksville, Virginia, with a bass that weighed 5.51 pounds. Bryson took home a total of $1330.00 for his day on the water.
I caught the big fish today on a wacky rigged senko in the grass said Peed.

Top 25

At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation will advance to the 2024 Ray Scott Championship, which will be held at Lake Eufaula in April 2025.
