Tony Couch from Buckhead, GA, emerged as the champion of the AFT D72 tournament held on February 22, 2025, on Lake Oconee. Competing with a five-bass limit that totaled 18.29 pounds, Tony not only secured the first-place trophy and $775 in cash but also earned the optional Big Bass pot—thanks to an impressive 5.74-pound bass—garnering an extra $390 and a special trophy.
The event saw a memorable performance by the father-and-son team of David and Dylan Lowery from Milledgeville, GA. David finished in second place with a total weight of 16.24 pounds, taking home a trophy and $496,
Dylan Lowery closely followed with 16.23 pounds, which earned him the third-place trophy and $229 in cash.
A total of 39 anglers participated in the tournament, competing fiercely for the top six spots, with overall payouts amounting to $1,911.
In addition to the cash prizes, draw prizes were also awarded. Larry Cason won a $50 gift card from Sugar Creek Marina, and David Mitchell walked away with a $50 bill. Tony Couch further added to his wins by receiving a $100 gift certificate for a custom wooden flag from Captain Kidd’s Designs, while Tony Wooten claimed a $200 gift certificate from Kissel Krafts Custom Rods.
