Jason Law Claims Victory at Lake Blackshear

Jason Law of Tifton, Georgia, secured the win at the American Fishing Tour (AFT) Division 74 event held on April 26, 2025, at Lake Blackshear. Law brought a five-bass limit to the scales totaling 12.26 pounds, highlighted by a 3.96-pound largemouth. His first-place performance earned him a payout of $478.

Finishing a close second was Donald Brooks of Dublin, Georgia, with a five-fish limit weighing 12.12 pounds, earning him $268 in winnings.

Third place went to Johnny Smith of Albany, Georgia, who brought in 11.55 pounds, including the event’s Big Fish—a 4.98-pound largemouth. Smith received a combined payout of $86 for his efforts.

Rounding out the top five were Joey James of Albany, Georgia, in fourth with 11.18 pounds, anchored by a 3.61-pounder, and Dwayne Smith of Americus, Georgia, in fifth with a 9.27-pound limit.

The next Division 74 event is scheduled for May 17–18, 2025, at Lake Blackshear, launching from the Gum Creek Ramp.

Anglers competing in AFT events accumulate points toward the Divisional Angler of the Year title. Each division winner earns a spot in the AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the American Fishing Tour National Championship. The top 500 anglers nationwide also qualify for the three-day AFT National Championship, set for this fall on Lake Eufaula in Alabama.

The American Fishing Tour is built for weekend anglers seeking competitive, affordable tournaments close to home. Participants compete for cash prizes and national recognition, with a clear path to championship-level competition.
