August 9, 2025 – East Dubuque, IL – No-Boater Cory Schrier of Benson, Illinois, captured first place at the American Fishing Tour (AFT) Division 39 Pool 12 tournament, presented by American Bass Anglers. Launching from the Mid-Town Marina ramp, Schrier brought a three-fish limit weighing 7.00 pounds to the scales. His performance was highlighted by a 3.40-pound largemouth, earning him Big Bass honors. For his efforts, Schrier took home $354.00 in winnings.
Tournament day conditions proved challenging, with cloudy skies, strong winds, and a swift river current. A persistent south wind worked against the current, creating hazardous navigation and forcing many anglers to abandon key fishing areas. While competitors reported catching numerous short fish, keeper-sized bass were hard to come by. Schrier’s ability to secure three quality fish proved decisive, giving him the edge over the rest of the field.
Finishing in second place was Jeff Morrison of Bloomington, Illinois, with three fish totaling 6.41 pounds. Dave Blume, also of Bloomington, secured third place with two fish weighing 6.10 pounds.
This event marked the final single-day qualifier for Division 39. The Angler of the Year race remains extremely close, setting the stage for an exciting finish at the upcoming two-day Divisional on Pool 8 of the Mississippi River. Only four points separate current leader Andy Blunier from second-place Dave Blume, with Michael Rasmussen just one point behind in third.
Anglers competing in the American Fishing Tour earn valuable points toward divisional Angler of the Year titles. Each divisional champion advances to the AFT Angler of the Year Final Round, held at the AFT National Championship. Additionally, the top 500 anglers nationwide qualify for the three-day AFT National Championship tournament.
