Wayne Smith Wins Division 74 AFT on Lake Blackshear

Lake Blackshear, GA – September 28, 2025 – DeWayne Smith of Americus, Georgia, captured the win at the American Fishing Tour (AFT) Division 74 tournament on Lake Blackshear. Smith brought a five-bass limit to the scales, weighing 10.66 pounds, highlighted by a 5.13-pound kicker fish.

Brad Larson of Cordele, Georgia, secured second place with four bass totaling 8.49 pounds, anchored by a 3.94-pounder.

Finishing third was Derrick Burnam of Vienna, Georgia, with four bass weighing 7.40 pounds. Fourth place went to Brett Mathis of Warwick, Georgia, who weighed in two bass for 5.18 pounds. Rounding out the top five was Henry Starks of Byron, Georgia, with two bass for 5.06 pounds.

Competition was tight as anglers contended with another large event launching nearby, making fishing pressure a challenge. Lake Blackshear is historically tough in September, adding to the difficulty of the day.

  2. Brad Larson – 8.49 lbs. (Big Fish: 3.94 lbs.)

The next Division 74 event will also be held on Lake Blackshear, launching from Gum Creek Ramp on October 18, 2025.
