Clanton, AL – October 4, 2025 – James Willoughby of Clanton, Alabama, claimed victory at the American Fishing Tour (AFT) Division 24 tournament held at Higgins Ferry Park on Lake Mitchell. The event drew a strong field of local anglers, all competing for cash prizes and valuable divisional and national points.
Willoughby secured the win with an impressive five-bass limit weighing 16.00 pounds, anchored by a 4.53-pound largemouth. His outstanding performance earned him the first-place cash prize of $451, along with an additional $80 for catching the tournament’s Big Bass.
Finishing close behind, Stephen Perry of Pike Road, Alabama, took second place with a five-fish limit totaling 15.95 pounds, highlighted by a 3.50-pounder. Perry’s effort earned him $254.
In third place, Jeremy Renfroe of Trussville, Alabama, brought five bass to the scales weighing 14.22 pounds, taking home $79 for his strong finish.
The next Division 24 event will take place on November 22, 2025, at Lake Jordan, launching from the State Park Ramp near Prattville, Alabama.

These anglers earned valuable points toward the Divisional Angler of the Year title. Each divisional champion will qualify for the AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the American Bass Anglers National Championship, where the top 500 anglers nationwide will compete in a prestigious three-day event next fall.
