Terry Adams Wins Central GA Tournament on Lake Oconee

On March 30, 2024, Terry Adams of Mansfield, GA, emerged victorious in the American Fishing Tour Division 72 (AFT D72) tournament held on Lake Oconee, Georgia. Adams secured the win with a five-bass limit weighing 19.56 pounds, which included a notable catch of a 4.98-pound bass. His exceptional performance earned him the first-place trophy and a cash prize of $826.

David Lowery from Milledgeville, GA, claimed the second spot with his haul of five bass totaling 18.52 pounds, featuring a 5.54-pound catch, and received $597 along with the second-place trophy.

Brian Garner of Locust Grove, GA, finished closely behind in third place, with a total weight of 18.50 pounds including a 5.77-pound bass, winning $331 and the third-place trophy.

Jason Cheek of Eatonton, GA, was awarded the Big Bass trophy and a cash prize of $570 for catching a 6.17-pound bass, the largest single fish weighed during the tournament.

The event drew 57 competitors, vying for a total payout of $2,793 distributed across nine places.

Additionally, the tournament featured prize draws, awarding four $50 cash prizes to James Hood, Steve O’Connell, Randy Woodham, and Jerry Jones. A $50 gift card to Sugar Creek Marina was won by Jason Gunn. Jerry Jones also won a $100 certificate for a custom wooden flag, and Wayne Garner secured a $200 certificate for a Kissel Krafts Rod.

The organizers extend their gratitude to Danny Taylor and Bob Clark for their indispensable assistance with morning registrations, boat checks, and the weigh-in process.

Lake Oconee, known for its scenic beauty and abundant fishing opportunities, proved to be a fitting venue for this competitive event. The lake’s diverse habitats support a rich bass population, making it a premier destination for anglers.

The next tournament in the division is scheduled for April 13, 2024, at Lake Oconee, launching from Sugar Creek Marina. For further details, participants and interested parties are encouraged to contact Director Benny Howell at 770-365-4795.

Benny Howell is the current reining King of the Hill, an award presented at the end of each season to the top director of that season.
