Steve Dobbs Wins on Lake Oconee

Buckhead, GA. Steve Dobbs of McDonough, GA, Took the win at the AFT D72 tournament held on December 7, 2024, at Lake Oconee. Dobbs secured the win with a five-bass limit weighing 16.87 pounds, earning him the first-place trophy and a cash prize of $807. His bag was anchored by a standout 5.20-pound bass.

Grant Kelly of Milledgeville, GA, landed a 5.65-pound largemouth bass, winning the Big Bass trophy and a $450 cash prize.

The event drew 45 anglers competing for a total payout of $2,205 across seven places.

Following the awards ceremony, additional prizes were distributed:

• Zach Thrower and Charlie Adams each won $50 cash as draw prizes.
• Mark Burns received a $50 gift card to Sugar Creek Marina.
• Tanner Bowden won a custom wooden flag valued at $100.

The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA AFT National Championship tournament to be held in October 2025 on Lake Eufaula.

These tournaments are crucial for anglers as they accumulate points toward the coveted Divisional Angler of the Year title. Points champions from each division will compete in the American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round, held at the AFT Championship. Additionally, the top 500 anglers from all divisions will qualify for the three-day ABA AFT National Championship, taking place next October on Lake Eufaula.
