Peiser Wins Opener on Harris Chain

ATHENS, Ala. –Robert “Mark” Peiser won the 2024 American Bass Anglers Professional League, Presented by Caymas Boats, Florida Central Division 6 season opener tournament, held January 13TH, 2024 on the Harris Chain of Lakes.

Running out of Hickory Point Recreational Facility in Tavares, FL the Tavares, FL angler caught five bass weighing 27.49 pounds including a kicker bass that weighed 6.68 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, Peiser took home a check for $6700 for his win.

“I caught my fish on a Texas rig big worm in Lake Beauclair on a shellbed. I caught all my fish early, before 9:30am then the wind changed direction from the North and the bite quit. I had caught two there in practice Thursday and I left it alone.“ Peiser said.

Second place for the boaters, James “Danny” Inabnett of De Leon Springs, FL landed a 5-bass limit weighing 17.22 pounds. He earned $3200 for the effort.

“I caught most my fish on Lake Harris on a crankbait. I did catch one on a Carolina-rig. I only caught 11 fish all day, just caught the right ones.” Inabnett said.

Neil Nix of Okeechobee, FL took the third spot for the boaters. He landed a 5-bass limit going 16.24 pounds. He earned $2500 for his finish.

“I stayed in Lake Harris also. I caught all my fish on a chatterbait. I was looking for clean water near grass and hydrilla.” Nix said

The big bass award of the boaters went to Santana Moretto of Leesburg, FL for a 6.70-pound lunker. Moretto earned $1000 for that fish. He also finished 15th in the event and received a $425 check for that place.

“I caught that big bass in front of a dock on a Carolina-rig speed worm in Lake Eustis working it slow. “ Moretto said.

Finishing fourth, Robert “Bobby” Bakewell of Orlando, FL landed 3 bass weighing 15.09 pounds. James Ford of Leesburg, FL rounded out the top five boaters landed a 5-bass limit weighing 13.99 pounds.

At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance the 2024 Ray Scott Championship to be held at Lake Eufaula in April, 2025.
